  7. Minutes of the Service Location Protocol Working Group (SVRLOC)

  9. RES_Type is a well defined list of attributes registered with the
  10. Assigned Numbering authority.
  11.  
  12. Decisions arrived at:

  14. The protocol does not have to be RPC based.  Scott Kaplan is reviewing
  15. the benefit of RPC as well as the performance issues.
  16.  
  17. There should be some sort of standard data representation for query
  18. data.  XDR and ASN.1 were some of the proposals.
  19.  
  20. Several examples of the RES_Type and related attribute types should be
  21. given in the document to give guidance to developers of services to be
  22. located.
  23.  
  24. Some attributes are site specific (e.g., the services physical location,
  25. the organization the service belong in, etc.)  these attributes should
  26. have a way to be delineated as site specific so that they will not
  27. collide with later defined types.
  28.  
  29. Scott Kaplan and John Veizades are working on a specification to be
  30. presented at the November IETF.
